Insider expects Penguins division rival to make a significant trade in the near future
Per NHL analyst Darren Dreger, the Philadelphia Flyers and general manager Danny Briere would like to add a "significant" piece to their team via trade before long.
The Philadelphia Flyers are only two points away from being second overall in the tightly packed Metropolitan Division, and if this latest report holds any weight, they could think their chances of getting that spot could soon be aided.
Darren Dreger: Re Flyers: They'd like to add a significant piece or two in the near future - Sekeres & Price (12/1)
The Flyers have not made the playoffs since 2020, and they decided to make a major change in leadership near the end of last season when it became clear that they would not make the postseason.
They fired fiery coach John Tortorella, and during the summer, hired former Flyers forward and former Jack Adams Trophy winning coach Rick Tocchet, who had previously led the Vancouver Canucks to the top spot in the Pacific Division just two years ago in 2023-24.
This also could have a hand in what the Penguins and GM Kyle Dubas decide to do, as they want to get back to the playoffs before their bitter in-state foe.
The Flyers Are Reportedly Shopping Around The NHL
Per Darren Dreger, the Flyers are reportedly looking to make a significant splash that would help in their chances in returning to the playoffs under coach Rick Tocchet for the first time since 2020.
They have been linked to players from the Vancouver Canucks, Tocchet's former team, including Kiefer Sherwood and Conor Garland.
One thing is clear though. The Flyers don't want to experience another year without the postseason in the City of Brotherly Love.
