It’s a huge honour any time you get to wear this jersey regardless of whether you have a letter or not. It’s a big responsibility, a big honour, but pretty fortunate to have some amazing leaders on this team and over the years. We’re all going to help each other. There’s so many guys who are going to lead and everyone has to if we want to have success, but it’s definitely an honour. - Sidney Crosby
You have to be open-minded, go with the flow. And you have to embrace the whole experience. It’s a special one, not only representing hockey, but just the entire Team Canada and celebrating sports. And there are expectations, there’s pressure that comes with that. But it’s about our group trying to be the best team we can and it’s on all of us to help each other. - Sidney Crosby
Sidney Crosby Has Twice Led Canada To Gold Medals
Crosby, who scored the "golden goal" in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, was only in his third year as captain of the Penguins at that time; it was Scott Niedermayer who was the captain of Canada for that year.
But Crosby was named captain of Canada for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and then again for last year's 4 Nations Faceoff, which resulted in a dramatic Canada OT win over Team USA in Boston.
To nobody's surprise, Crosby was one of the first players named for Canada's roster for 2026.
