Alex DeBrincat has been very productive for Detroit, and after a recent trade proposal, it appears he could be available for Kyle Dubas and the Penguins.
Two years ago, Alex DeBrincat signed with the Detroit Red Wings on a four-year extension, but as of right now, it appears as though his future may lay beyond his current team as they continue to struggle in pursuit of a Stanley Cup.
Alex DeBrincat's Short-Term Contract Suggests He Could Be On the Move
While a team like Toronto would be more likely to pursue DeBrincat given that they're looking to contend this season and replace Mitch Marner, it's also brought up the potential idea that Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins could pursue the 27-year old.
Over the past four years, DeBrincat has tallied 78, 66, 67 and 70 points, showing that he's more than capable of being a top-line player on a Stanley Cup contender, and given that he's younger than Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust, he could be an intriguing piece next to Sidney Crosby for years to come.
At this point in time, it's more likely than not that Dubas is looking to unload his veterans for NHL ready players 23-years of age or under, but if he can find a way to land DeBrincat at keep him long-term while offloading players on the other side of 30, it's something that he and the Penguins organization could perceivably look into.
