Nick Bonino will always have a place in the heart of Pittsburgh Penguins fans, but the latest news reveals the veteran isn't coming back to the US anytime soon.

With so much young talent coming into the NHL each and every single year, spots are much harder to come by for veteran players, and that's resulted in many heading to Europe in the past few years.
One of those is a Pittsburgh Penguins legend in Nick Bonino, who signed in Austria for the 2024/25 campaign, and now, the veteran has confirmed he will remain in Europe for next season.
According to reports, Bonino has extended his time with HK Olimpija Ljubljana after scoring 6 goals and 17 points with the team last season over 22 solid games, with a +2 differential in that time as well.
At 37-years of age, most assumed that Bonino's move to Europe would see the end of his NHL career, and despite solid production in his first season in Slovenia, it's safe to say that he's not done enough to change those minds.
Bonino debuted in the NHL with the Anaheim Ducks all the way back in 2009/10, and since that time he's won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins across three seasons with the team, and in total he has played a fantastic 868 games, tallying 358 points during that stretch.
Ultimately though, as rock solid as he was in the NHL, there's simply too many talented players and not enough spots to fit every steady veteran in the world into a lineup, so while he may be thriving overseas, don't expect him to return anytime soon as he appears to have found a home with HK Olimpija Ljubljana.
