Penguins head coach Dan Muse held a private meeting with Kris Letang as the defenseman has had a rough start to the season, and details have leaked from it.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have surpassed early-season expectations, but not all players have reached top gear. Veteran defenceman Kris Letang has been unable to pick up a point in five games, which is a bit of a worry to head coach Dan Muse.
Muse admitted he has spoken to the 38-year-old about his performance in a private meeting but credited his professionalism and work ethic heading into his 20th season with the club.
"You know what you're going to get from Kris Letang every night," Muse said of Letang, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I know that from coaching against him, from watching him play. He's going to give you everything. The guy, he's a warrior. That's what I see."

Kris Letang is still playing over 20 minutes per night, showing no signs of aging in that regard

Letang is still playing big minutes despite his age, averaging close to 22 per game.
During last Saturday's game against the New York Rangers, Letang was injured and left in the third period, and was kept off the ice for practice the next day.
However, he returned to the team this week for the California road trip, demonstrating determination to get back.
Letang finished with 30 points in 74 games last season, his lowest full-season point total since his rookie year. Though his defensive stability continues to be appreciated, the Penguins hope his offense re-emerges.
The Penguins' recent 4-2 win over the Kings was a move in the right direction for the team in general. Hopefully, the momentum that the team is building will be enough to get Letang's production and confidence rolling as they finish their road trip out west.
The Penguins, 3-2-0, will try to win their fourth game of the season when they play the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
