Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Muse has provided the latest health updates on several players, including Kris Letang, Kevin Hayes and Rutger McGroarty.

The Pittsburgh Penguins managed to surprise some and win their 1st two games of the new year, which also included a 3-0 shutout win over former head coach Mike Sullivan and the New York Rangers.
But Sullivan and the Rangers got their revenge on Saturday with a convincing 6-1 victory at PPG Paints Arena, which also included a video tribute for Sullivan in his return to Pittsburgh for the 1st time since being terminated.
Current Penguins head coach Dan Muse, who was formerly an assistant with the Rangers, has given several health updates on his players ahead of a critical road trip.
Per Muse, defenseman Kris Letang, who is dealing with a lower body injury, is considered day to day and is going to travel with the team. Forward Kevin Hayes hasn't played yet after he was hurt on the very 1st day of training camp last month, but he's also going to travel with the team.
Unfortunately, Rutger McGroarty, who is dealing with an upper body injury, will not be traveling with the team.
Both Hayes and McGroarty worked out on the ice at the Penguins' practice facility before the rest of the team practiced.
The Penguins are embarking on a road trip out west that will take them to Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Jose before returning home to play the Vancouver Canucks.
The 1st game of the road trip is in Anaheim on Tuesday.

Kris Letang is considered day to day

Letang, who has gone through more than his fair share of injury troubles as well as worrying health concerns that have included a pair of strokes and recent heart surgery, was hurt on Saturday against the Rangers.
He missed a check and went into the boards, and left early in the 3rd period and didn't come back to the bench.
So far, he has no points in the opening 3 games of the new year.
