The future of Sidney Crosby has been talked about extensively this summer, with many around the NHL believing it would be in his best interest to depart the Pittsburgh Penguins after the team have missed the post-season for three straight seasons.

However, as of right now he's remained loyal to the only NHL team he's ever known, so much so that many Insiders believe Crosby completely controls his fate, with the long-time captain the only one that could force him out of Pittsburgh.

Despite all of that, he remains loyal to the Penguins, and now Elliotte Friedman has revealed the latest update on his 32 Thoughts podcast, noting that he is internally listed by the NHL as a Penguin on their pre-season media tour, meaning that ahead of the 2025/26 season, nothing is slated to change.

Of course, that means there is still time for Crosby to change his mind and request a trade out of Pittsburgh, the team he has remained loyal too for over 20 years, but at this stage, it's clear that he wants to remain a Penguin and help this team turn things around.

Ultimately, this will be a story that Insiders around the NHL continue to monitor and speculate on for the foreseeable future, and while it makes sense that Crosby could look to leave and chase a Stanley Cup elsewhere, until he indicates otherwise, there's no reason to believe he'll ever play on another NHL team.
