Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang share an iconic moment with NBA superstar Kevin Durant

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the Lone Star State to play the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center tonight, but they were at the same building last night to take in some NBA action.

The Dallas Mavericks, who share the arena with the Stars, hosted the Houston Rockets, and longtime Penguins defenseman Kris Letang and forward Evgeni Malkin decided to attend. Additionally, they were joined by rookie Bokondji Imama, who was recently called up from the AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

They also managed to get a photo with superstar Rockets forward Kevin Durant after the game:

Like Malkin and Letang, Durant has won multiple championships. He's currently second only behind LeBron James for the most points by an active NBA player. He's also eighth all time in scoring with 31,051 career points.

Pittsburgh has teams in the NFL (Pittsburgh Steelers) and MLB (Pittsburgh Pirates), but does not have an NBA team.

The Penguins play the Stars in the same building later tonight.

The Penguins, who were projected by most fans and analysts to miss the postseason for a fourth straight year, have gotten off to a much better start than just about anyone would have expected.

They're 14-7-5 and in fourth place in the Metropolitan Division.

The three year postseason drought is the longest in the careers of both Malkin and Letang as well as their longtime teammate Sidney Crosby, but if they continue on their current pace, they could very well be back in the playoffs this spring for the first time since 2022.
