The Maple Leafs and Penguins have made some intriguing trades recently, and now Jay Rosehill has proposed a major one involving Erik Karlsson and Morgan Rielly.

Since Kyle Dubas departed the Toronto Maple Leafs for the Pittsburgh Penguins, the two Eastern Conference teams have dealt with each other plenty, making several trades in that time.
Now, there may be another one coming after a very intriguing trade proposal was discussed by former Maple Leaf Jay Rosehill, who totally endorsed the idea of getting a deal done.

Erik Karlsson to the Maple Leafs in a new trade proposal

On the Leafs Nation podcast, this intriguing deal was proposed between Toronto and Pittsburgh, with the Penguins getting Nick Robertson and Morgan Rielly in exchange for three-time Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson.
While there's plenty of hoops that the teams would need to jump through to make it happen, as there is trade protection for Rielly, it's something that former Maple Leaf Jay Rosehill loved and completely endorsed.
"I take that all day. Trying to get rid of Nick Robertson in general, he doesn't fit anywhere, who is he beating out for a roster spot? I just don't think he's going to be here.

Morgan Rielly has kind of stalled, makes $7.5 million, doesn't produce like he used to, sometimes has some brain-dead stuff going on in the D zone. I'm not trying to knock him or anything but he's just not the player that he was in the past."

This would give the Maple Leafs scoring punch from their blue line while helping clear up the forward logjam on this roster, and whether it's realistic or not, it's certainly something that Rosehill has endorsed that could benefit both teams in the end.
