Minnesota Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson, who has been teammates with Marc-Andre Fleury, may not hit the market as he's recently spoken about a contract extension with the team.
Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin recently managed to re-sign RFA forward Marco Rossi to a new 3 year deal, and can now try and get goaltender Filip Gustavsson re-signed as well.
Gustavsson, who is entering the last year of his deal, has already spoken to his agent about a potential extension with the Wild but isn't letting it get in the way of his focus on the upcoming year.
I've had the conversations with my agent and all that stuff, and what we're looking into and what we would like to do or stuff like that they haven't started actively talking to Billy or anything. When they want to talk, then we talk, and otherwise I have this year left and I'm just gonna play and win.
He also said his family enjoys living in the area.
For the past three years, I've enjoyed playing there. My family loves living there, and it's been great to me.
Gustavsson has a year left on his current deal with an AAV (average annual value) of $3.75 million.
Ex-Penguin Marc-Andre Fleury backed up Gustavsson the last few seasons
Gustavsson, who has emerged as the starter for the Wild in recent years, was backed up by former Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.
