Longtime NHL defenseman and former Pittsburgh Penguin Jack Johnson, who won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche, has announced his retirement and has joined the Vancouver Canucks' front office.

The NHL career for longtime defenseman Jack Johnson has officially ended, as he announced his retirement after 1,228 games, but he's already found his next job.
Per a report from the Vancouver Canucks, he's joined their front office as a scout.
Johnson played 19 years in the NHL, including several with in a Pittsburgh Penguins sweater before the rest of his deal was bought out.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins Defenseman Jack Johnson Won A Stanley Cup While With The Colorado Avalanche In 2022

Johnson, who was taken with the third overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes, had his rights traded to the Los Angeles Kings along with Oleg Tverdovsky for Tim Gleason and Eric Belanger in 2006.
He would play several years for the Kings before being traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2012 in the Jeff Carter deal, which would eventually yield two Stanley Cups for the Kings in three years.
Johnson signed a five year deal with the Penguins in 2018, but was eventually put on waivers for the purposes of a buyout in 2020. After a quick stint with the New York Rangers, he played 2021-22 with the Colorado Avalanche after earning a roster spot on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
He won his first and only Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022, and then later played briefly for the Chicago Blackhawks before coming back to the Avalanche, and later closed out his career with a second stint in Columbus.
He signed a PTO with the Minnesota Wild this past fall, but didn't earn a roster spot.
Johnson played in 1,228 career NHL games and had 342 points (77G, 265A).
