Rick Tocchet was a key piece of the Penguins last Stanley Cup run as a coach, and now, the new Flyers bench bosses is headed to the Olympics with Team Canada.
The 2026 Olympic Games are right around the corner, and with the return of the NHL to the Olympics alongside the success of the Four Nations tournament in 2025, it's safe to say that this may be the most hyped international tournament in hockey history.
Back in February at that tournament, Team Canada knocked off the United States in the final, claiming gold at yet another best-on-best tournament, and heading into the Games in Milan, it's safe to say that the country is highly optimistic.
Now, we've learned some news about Team Canada heading into the tournament, with the revelation that the coaching staff will be unchanged, featuring former Penguins player and coach Rick Tocchet, who is now the bench boss of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Tocchet will join Head Coach Jon Cooper along with Bruce Cassidy and Peter DeBoer as one of the best coaching staff's potentially ever put together for a hockey tournament, and with the roster being just as loaded, this team is a great chance at claiming gold.
There's plenty of competition however, with Sweden, Finland, the United States, Germany, Slovakia and Czechia all presenting tough opposition for the Canadians, but with some of the biggest names on the planet, this roster should be absolutely loaded.
Also representing the Penguins at this tournament is GM Kyle Dubas, who serves as the Director of Player Personnel, all representing a Canadian team that believes they're ready to win the biggest best-on-best tournament in hockey history.
