Former Penguins goaltender Emil Larmi has signed with a new club in Sweden as free agency has already opened up in Europe.

The NHL still has a couple of weeks before the regular season wraps up and free agency doesn't open until July 1st, but things are a bit different in Europe.
For the Swedish Hockey League, free agency has already begun and players have started to sign with their new clubs for the upcoming season.
One of those players is Finish goaltender Emil Larmi, who has signed a deal with Farjestad BK after spending the last four seasons with the Växjö Lakers HC.
Larmi, 28, was never drafted to the NHL but was once a prospect of the Penguins, who signed him to a deal ahead of the 2019-20 season.
The 6'0" goalie spent that season split between the Wheeling Nailers of the of ECHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL.
He put up a .908 save percentage and a 3.55 goals-against average in 11 games with the Nailers that season and an .883 save percentage alongside an identical 3.55 goals-against average at the AHL level.
He would go on to play six more games at the AHL level for the Penguins the following season before returning to Finland.
He has spent the last four seasons playing in the SHL where he has had mixed success. At this point it certainly seems as though he will never be in North America again, at least not to play in the NHL.
Luckily for the Penguins, they have some depth in goal as top prospect Sergei Murashov continues to impress at the AHL level.
Murashov was promoted to the AHL this season after going 17-7-1 in 26 games with the Wheeling Nailers, posting a .922 save percentage and a 2.40 GAA in the process.
In 14 games at the AHL level he has posted a 11-2-0 record alongside a .914 save percentage and 2.66 GAA.
He could very well be the Penguins goalie of the future.
