Harrison Brunicke Comments on His Future With Pittsburgh: 'Going to Do Whatever I Can'

Penguins 2024 NHL Entry Draft prospect Harrison Brunicke promises to do whatever it takes for him to claim a roster spot in Pittsburgh for this year.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are in a period of transition right now, as the tenures of longtime franchise icons like Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin are going to be coming to a close before long.
One player who wants to be part of the next wave of the future is defenseman Harrison Brunicke, who was taken with the 44th pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft by Pittsburgh.
He had a strong training camp in 2024, but was sent back to the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL.
This year, he wants to have his stall in the locker room of PPG Paints Arena with the Penguins and is going to do what it takes to make it happen.
As far as my mindset and my play, my goal is to stay here this year. So, I'm going to do whatever I can to make that happen.
A broken wrist kept Brunicke out of the Blazers' lineup for several weeks, something he mentioned was difficult to deal with.
It's pretty exhausting mentally, just having to deal with that. So, just doing as much as you can away from that injury, whether it's my wrist, my foot, whatever. Just trying to get as much as you can throughout the course of your injury.
With the Blazers, he had 30 points (5G, 25A) in 41 games.
Brunicke's scouting report via Elite Prospects reads as follows:
There's not much Brunicke can't do. In an instant, he goes from locking down the net-front to ending the cycle. He sticks to his check, communicates, and follows pokes with hits. Off the rush, he easily matches fast-moving attacks to push them wide and get the stop. If all fails, he has the speed to recover.
