Insider Reveals the One Scenario That Could Convince Sidney Crosby to Leave the Penguins
An NHL analyst has revealed the one situation he thinks could convince Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby to leave the only team he's played for.
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby continues to play at an incredibly high level, even into his late 30s.
The unfortunate part of his legendary competitiveness is that the Penguins aren't considered a serious threat to make the playoffs this year despite their positive 4-2 start to the new season.
Crosby is under contract for another 2 years (including this year) with his traditional AAV (average annual value) of $8.7 million, a superstitious nod to his sweater number.
And even though he's been the subject of multiple trade rumours, he's repeatedly said he wants to remain with the Penguins for the rest of his professional career.
But a new report from analyst Frank Seravalli, Crosby could potentially be convinced to leave the Penguins if it meant joining the Montreal Canadiens, the team he grew up cheering for.
Frank Seravalli: Re Sidney Crosby rumours: It's gonna have to for a really special situation; I think the Canadiens with his love of that team as a kid...and from a competitive standpoint; that's the type of dream scenario - Big Show (10/17)
Sidney Crosby is still under contract for another 2 years
Crosby agreed to sign a new contract extension with the Penguins before last season started with his traditional $8.7 million AAV.
It's part of his legendary loyalty to the franchise that he's captained to 3 Stanley Cups while winning numerous other accolades that will assure him a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame whenever his career ends.
But whether or not his entire NHL career will be played with the Penguins remains to be seen.
