NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that, prior to Tristan Jarry being traded to Edmonton, he had requested to Kyle Dubas that he wanted to go there.

Tristan Jarry woke up like it was any other Friday morning until he got a surprise courtesy of a call from Pittsburgh's general manager, Kyle Dubas, who demanded that he meet with him ASAP.
He had no idea that his time with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin was about to come to an end.
Soon after, the trade happened. A trade of five players saw Jarry sent to the Edmonton Oilers. Stuart Skinner was moved to Pittsburgh, as well as defenseman Brett Kulak, with the inclusion of a second-round draft pick in 2029.
A trade of a player in the minors also happened. This involved Penguins' Samuel Poulin, who was also shipped to Edmonton.

What Tristan Jarry requested from Penguins GM Kyle Dubas

After realizing that his time in Pittsburgh was almost over, he requested that Kyle Dubas trade him to Edmonton, as stated by Elliotte Friedman.
Within hours of the trade, Jarry laced up for the Oilers, making 25 saves in a 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He inherits a crease with a dynamic cornerstone in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, with the charge of improving the depth of goaltending after playoff disappointment for the past two years.

Why Tristan Jarry has proved he can be a top goalie in the NHL

A two-time NHL All-Star, Jarry is 10-3-1 with a .909 save percentage and a 2.69 GAA this year.
He signed a five-year, $26.875 million contract extension following his 2022 All-Star appearance, but he struggled for a bit last year, even passing through waivers before serving an AHL stint. In 307 NHL games, he boasts a .909 SV% and a 2.74 GAA.
27-year-old goaltender Skinner was instrumental in helping the Oilers reach back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, but currently has a season save percentage of .891 with a 2.83 GAA. However, it is his postseason play that he would like to be remembered for.
Now with the Edmonton Oilers, Jarry enters as their No. 1 goalie, tasked with advancing their team further into the playoffs.
It is hoped that his combination of experience and familiarity with the area is what is needed to provide some stability in the crease.
