This afternoon, media members caught up with Kris Letang who gave an inside look at Sidney Crosby’s mentality despite being injured at the Olympics.
Today marked one of the biggest games in the history of the sport of hockey with Team Canada and Team USA battling for gold with NHL players once again.
Unfortunately, one of hockey’s most marquee names Sidney Crosby was unable to suit up due to an injury he suffered earlier in the tournament.
After the heartbreaking loss, Crosby’s Penguins teammate Kris Letang gave a passionate speech about Crosby’s incredible character and leadership despite being unable to play.
While Letang was not there to witness Crosby’s actions in person he had a pretty good idea what Canada’s captain was doing behind the scenes.
Letang speculated that Crosby was in the locker room fully geared up cheering on his teammates despite being unable to play.
Knowing him, it must have been hard. He probably sat in the locker room with his gear on and watched it on TV. You know, a guy like that wants the puck on his stick to try to make a difference to help his team win the gold.
Now, the focus for Letang and Crosby will be getting healthy for the stretch run of the NHL season as the Penguins look to clinch an unexpected playoff berth in 2026.
Letang has of course spent over a decade playing alongside Crosby in Pittsburgh and with Canada as well.
This gives him great insight on what could’ve been going through Crosby’s head throughout the game.
