Kyle Dubas Addresses Potential Trades Involving Erik Karlsson, Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust
The Pittsburgh Penguins have three major veterans they could move this summer, and now GM Kyle Dubas has addressed potential deals for all three.
By most standards, the Pittsburgh Penguins had a great 2025 NHL Draft, adding plenty of talent to a prospect pool that needed it, and now, they may not be done adding assets for the future of the organization.
According to all reports, several key veterans on this team are available for trade, but for the most part, the belief around the league is that Rickard Rakell, Bryan Rust and Erik Karlsson are the three veterans most likely to be traded by the team.
Now, that's something that General Manager Kyle Dubas has addressed following the draft,
"I know more about the free agent market because of the calls we get on our veteran guys. Teams say the the market is nuts. We might have more interest in doing a deal or a trade.
Perhaps the most interesting part of Dubas' comments however were directed towards Rust, as he noted how valuable he's been to the Penguins organization, noting that it would be a tough deal to make, but with so many calls coming in on him, there's a chance it happens.
"So, we're going to evaluate everything. We're going to do what's best for the Penguins. But I mean, one of those players' cases specifically, Rust means a lot to the team. He's been a part of the team for 15 years.
Unless it's something that blows us away in terms of what it returns, then it could very easily be looked at to have us return to contention. That'd be a tough one. But we've got lots of calls on him. He's also a massive member of the Penguins."

Ultimately, all signs point to the team trading at least one or two of these veterans, but with the aim of adding more young talent and/or draft picks, don't be shocked if all three are moved at some point.
