The Pittsburgh Penguins have two lottery picks in the 2025 NHL Draft, and according to a top insider, they've not turned down the idea of trading one or both picks.
The 2025 NHL Draft is almost upon us, and while there are several intriguing teams to keep an eye on at the event, none could do more interesting things than the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The team have three picks in rounds two and three of the draft, as well as No. 11 and 12 overall in the lottery, and with the team looking towards the future with a rebuild, this could mean several things.
Firstly, the Penguins could use some of those later picks to move into the first-round a third time, or they could wield No. 11 or 12 overall to get a young player back, and according to Darren Dreger, the latter move is a possibility.
In his latest report, Dreger has revealed that the Penguins are eager to use one of their picks to add a young player, likely between the age of 21 and 24 that could not only help them for the future, but potentially next season in 2025/26.
The first names that come to mind are
Bowen Byram and
Marco Rossi, both players that Pittsburgh have expressed interest in this summer, and while neither Minnesota nor Buffalo could be interested in one of Pittsburgh's picks, there will be teams out there that could be intrigued by the Penguins draft capital.
With all of these thoughts in mind, the Penguins will be a team to keep a very close eye on during the 2025 NHL Draft, and while most fans would love to see two top prospects join a very thin prospect pool, if the right deal is out there, expect Kyle Dubas to pull the trigger.
