Kyle Dubas and the Penguins have a mountain of picks in the coming years, and now, one reporter has revealed that Dubas doesn't intend on using all of those picks.

The 2025 NHL Draft is just a matter of 24 hours away, and with so many teams looking to get better before and during the draft, it's expected to be a chaotic night with plenty of surprises.
After recent developments, the Penguins now have picks No. 11 and 12 in the draft, with the chance to add two high level prospects to a team that's desperate for young, emerging talent.
Currently, the team have six picks in the first three rounds of the next three NHL Drafts, and while they've got their eyes on the likes of Kashawn Aitcheson, Roger McQueen and Viktor Eklund, they aren't going to use all of their picks.
That's the conclusion that's been drawn heading into the draft by the Tribune Review, but it's Kyle Dubas' words from April that potentially signal the Penguins most intriguing plans for the draft.
"It's going to allow us to maybe trade for players that other teams can't afford that are restricted free agents, and then sign them longer range ourselves, using that cap space that way.

So, you're signing a player that's (age) 23-24 for seven or eight years versus going into free agency for someone who's 27 to 32 and getting them for seven years. So, I think that would be the more likely route."

According to Dubas himself, the team could be looking to use their assets to acquire players that won't fit under a team's salary cap and is potentially hitting RFA status, so while he's expected to use both first-round selections on players, don't be shocked to see him dealing other picks.
On paper, the Penguins should be using all of their picks to acquire prospects, but if they can land young, NHL ready players, it's just as good a move, meaning the Penguins could be busy over the weekend.
