Multiple-Time Jack Adams Finalist Head Coach May Become Available to the Penguins This Summer

Peter DeBoer's tenure in Dallas has been solid for the most part, but after pulling Jake Oettinger early in a pivotal Game 5 and throwing him under the bus after the game to the media, many believe his time with the team could be coming to an end.

Now, an NHL analyst has linked him to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the case he does get fired this summer, with the team yet to make a decision on their new Head Coach after moving on from Mike Sullivan.

On paper, it makes sense for the Penguins to go much younger on their new Head Coach, with Mitch Love reportedly high on their list heading into the summer, but in DeBoer, they could get a highly experienced could, something that Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and the leaders of this team would much prefer.

Along with the Penguins, both the Kings and Bruins have been mentioned as possible fits for DeBoer, and given their desires to bounce back from tough finishes to the 2024/25 campaign as well, all three make perfect sense.

For now though, DeBoer remains the Head Coach of the Dallas Stars, and if he is to get fired, this is something that the Penguins could certainly take a look at, but with both Mitch Love and DJ Smith remaining as finalists for the job in Pittsburgh, they may not want to wait until that happens before making a decision.
