Nathan MacKinnon Responds to Viral Rumor About Sidney Crosby Being Traded Out of Pittsburgh
NHL insider Kevin Weekes made a post that riled up Sidney Crosby trade rumors tonight, but Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon immediately shut it down.
With the Pittsburgh Penguins seemingly heading into a rebuild and Sidney Crosby only getting older, there has been a lot of speculation about his future with the team.
The Canadiens have already made a massive move this summer when they acquired defenseman
Noah Dobson from the New York Islanders earlier today.
Meanwhile, the Avalanche also made a trade, sending out
Charlie Coyle and
Miles Wood to the Columbus Blue Jackets, giving the organization the cap space to make a major move.
Could this be a signal that they are making a push to unite Crosby with his good friend Nathan MacKinnon?
Well, according to MacKinnon himself, this doesn't seem to be the case.
The Avalanche center replied to a tweet by former NHLer Georges Laraque, saying that Crosby will be playing for the Penguins next season.
Furthermore, Crosby's agent Pat Brisson has also confirmed that rumors that the Penguins are trading their franchise icon are completely baseless.
Part of what sparked the rumors tonight was a tweet by NHL insider Kevin Weekes, who posted a picture of Denver from a distance just before the Penguins went on the clock with the 11th pick of the 2025 NHL draft.
Be sure to stay tuned to see how the rest of the 2025 NHL draft plays out, and whether or not Kyle Dubas is done making moves.
