New Pittsburgh Penguins Line Combinations Unveiled Following Roster Shake-Up

This Pittsburgh Penguins roster has undergone plenty of change over the past few months, and now, with injuries to the likes of Evgeni Malkin, those changes to the lineup have increased.

On Saturday ahead of their Sunday battle against the Ottawa Senators, there have been plenty of changes made to the lineup, with some very intriguing ones that could play a role in the future of the team.

The first line is perhaps the most intriguing, as the usual faces of Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust are there, with the intriguing new addition of Rutger McGroarty, who will get his second chance at the NHL starting this week as he looks to solidify his spot ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Then, we see 20-year old Ville Koivunen, a talented young forward the team acquired from Nashville at the deadline slot in on the second line alongside Rickard Rakell and another deadline pickup in Connor Dewar, who has impressed since arriving in Pittsburgh.

Much of the bottom-six are veterans that we've seen in Pittsburgh all season long, but it's clear that Head Coach Mike Sullivan wants that injection of youth and enthusiasm into the lineup as they embark on their final 8-game stretch of the season, with the Stanley Cup Playoff hopes completely gone now.

Still, this will be great experience for the young forwards, who will use this valuable playing time to build on next season as they look to push for regular spots in the team, and with Pittsburgh having a whole host of draft picks in the summer, this may be just the start of the youth movement with the Penguins.
