Former Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner is on a roll lately with only one goal allowed in each of his last three starts for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who traded for him nearly a month ago.

There was a monumental trade in the NHL last month involving two goaltenders, and right now, it looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins may have gotten the upper hand.
The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired goaltender Stuart Skinner and defenseman Brett Kulak from the Edmonton Oilers for Tristan Jarry and Sam Poulin after the Oilers decided they couldn't wait for Skinner to fix his inconsistency.
And even though Skinner's first few starts in a Penguins sweater were rough, he's rebounded and won his last handful of starts, allowing only a single goal in each of his last three games amidst the Penguins' six game winning streak.
Last night's win over the New Jersey Devils was Pittsburgh's sixth straight and Skinner's third straight; he made 28 saves in the win over the struggling Devils at PPG Paints Arena and routinely heard chants of "Stuuuu" from the crowd like he would in Edmonton.
Right now in Edmonton, Jarry isn't available to the Oilers, as he was hurt in just his third start with the team against the Boston Bruins.
If Skinner can discover a new level of consistency and bring the Penguins to the playoffs for what would be the first time since 2022, the Oilers may live to regret giving up on him.

Tristan Jarry Is Unavailable To The Oilers Because Of Injury

Jarry, whom Edmonton decided could be the one to get them over the hump after consecutive losses in the Stanley Cup Final, was hurt in just his third game in an Oilers sweater while trying to make a save against the Boston Bruins on December 18.
The Oilers' goaltending duties have since been taken over by both Calvin Pickard and Connor Ingram, but they're hoping that Jarry is able to return to the ice soon in game action.
He's made recent appearances in practice, but per head coach Kris Knoblauch, still won't be able to play for a few weeks.
