With Evgeni Malkin's future in Pittsburgh still uncertain NHL analyst Nick Kypreos has provided the latest news on a possible trade involving the Penguins superstar.

Evgeni Malkin is currently in the final season of his contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins and his future with the team has remained murky at best.
To begin the year, many believed this would be Malkin's final season with the Penguins with him either retiring or being sent to a new team at the trade deadline.
However, with the Penguins surprising success and potential push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs things seem to have changed.

Nick Kypreos urges the Penguins to consider trading Evgeni Malkin

During a recent segment, Kypreos admitted that the Penguins push for a playoff spot has made Malkin's future much more uncertain.
The closer the Penguins are to the wild card (or a top-three spot in the Metro), the harder it will be to move on from Malkin and thus give up on one more post-season run with him and Sidney Crosby.

Even with the potential for one more run to Stanley Cup glory Kypreos believes the Penguins would be wise to trade Malkin and move on building for the future instead of continuing to go all-in on this season.
If there is an opportunity to move Malkin, however, Pittsburgh's front office would take it as the 39-year-old is in the final year of his contract and this organization knows it needs to pivot to younger players. - Nick Kypreos

If the Penguins do continue to slip out of that playoff race it seems increasingly likely that Pittsburgh will trade Malkin and move him to a contender as they build for the future.
If the Penguins can hold on to a playoff spot Dubas might consider honoring the original core and give them one last shot.
The next couple weeks of game action in the NHL will be crucial to determine which way the Penguins go and whether or not Malkin finishes his time in the NHL in Pittsburgh.
