Penguins Coach Dan Muse Responds to Critics of Team's Contender Status
In a recent interview, Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Muse responded to the team's doubters who do not believe the Stanley Cup Playoffs are a realistic goal.
As a result, the Penguins will have two teenagers in their opening night lineup with Ben Kindel and
Harrison Brunicke confirmed to play against the New York Rangers.
The lack of additions and lackluster talent remaining around
Sidney Crosby and
Evgeni Malkin has led many fans to believe the Stanley Cup Playoffs are not a realistic expectation.
Ahead of the Penguins first game, head coach Dan Muse spoke to the media and defended his team's chances of surprising a lot of people.
Dan Muse Responds To Those Who Doubt the Penguins' Abilities
During the interview, Muse fired back at reporters who have repeatedly projected the Penguins to be at the bottom of the Eastern Conference instead of competing for a playoff spot.
I respect that reporters have a job to do. I mean that. I do. And I respect that other people have jobs to do, and that other people are going to think whatever they want to think.
But the way I look at it, this team has a chance to write its own story. And that's what I expect them to do.
It is good to hear Muse has full confidence and belief in this group to achieve great things and defy expectations.
Now it will be up to Muse along with Malkin and Crosby to continue setting that culture of winning and high expectations and turning that into success on the ice as well.
