The NHL trade deadline is approaching in the next couple of months and the Philadelphia Flyers are eyeing an interesting trade involving the Carolina Hurricanes.
Throughout the season as the NHL trade deadline draws near NHL insiders continue to add names to the trade target list.
Today, that continued as Flyers forward
Nicolas Deslauriers has now been listed as one of the top trade targets that contending teams could pursue.
Philadelphia Flyers Linked to Carolina Hurricanes in Potential Deadline Deal
According to a new report from Scott Cole of Broad Street Buzz, the Hurricanes and Flyers could be a perfect match as trade partners in a deal centered around Deslauriers.
The return would be minimal. You're going to get one of two things. The first is either a low-level prospect that may not do much. The second is a lower-end draft pick (a fifth through seventh). Now, the Flyers could sweeten that pot.
The Flyers could offer Deslauriers and a 2026 seventh-round pick for a 2027 4th or 5th round pick.
Deslauriers, 34, has seen his playing time diminish significantly this season but still has aspirations to be an every day player for the Flyers.
At his best, Deslauriers is an enforcer who can contribute 10-20 points playing on a bottom line while also being a great leader and teammate.
He is a locker room leader in Philadelphia but if they remain bottom feeders then a trade is almost inevitable at some point this season.
As the season continues Deslauriers' situation will be one to follow over the next several months as the Flyers look to find him a new home.
