Penguins Head Coach Candidate Reportedly A Finalist For The Same Role In Boston
Mitch Love is regarded as a favourite for the Pittsburgh Penguins Head Coach position, but now he's reportedly a finalist for the same role in Boston, meaning the Penguins could be preparing to lose another top candidate.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have seen some big names hired as Head Coach this off-season, and now, with the team searching for a Mike Sullivan replacement, their potential list of candidates has dwindled.
However, a twist may be on the way, as The Athletic have now revealed Love to be one of two favourites for the Head Coach position in Boston alongside Marco Sturm, and if Love takes the job, it will be yet another top candidate for the Penguins that has chosen to go elsewhere.
At this point in time however, the likes of Jay Woodcroft and Jay Leach are also seen as candidates for the Bruins role, so this doesn't mean the end for Love's potential arrival in Pittsburgh, but given how slow they've been with this search, it wouldn't be ideal to see them lose another top candidate.
The 40-year old love was a fantastic coach in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers for three seasons, and after playing his role well as an assistant in Washington, he's been seen as one of the next big time coaches in the NHL for a number of years now, so expect to see a resolution one way or another surrounding Love in the very near future.
