Penguins Insider Comments on Possible Ryan Graves Trade This Off-Season
Ryan Graves didn't have his best NHL season in 2024/25 with Pittsburgh, and now, speculation continues to grow over his future with the Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have plenty of questions to answer this summer, with the team needing a new Head Coach, looking at potential offer sheets, having plenty of picks in the drafts as well as free agency, but it's perhaps the trade market where they may be most active.
Many are looking at the Swedish duo of
Rickard Rakell and
Erik Karlsson as potential trade chips for Pittsburgh, but one name that has been linked to a move for quite some time is veteran blue liner Ryan Graves.
The 29-year old came to Pittsburgh from Colorado in 2023/24, and last year was perhaps the most disappointing of his career, as he had just 1 goal and 4 points in 61 games played for the team.
That's led plenty to speculate on a trade, and now, Insider Josh Yohe has addressed the situation, revealing that they'd like to move his contract, but to get it done, they'll likely need to add a sweetener to any deal.
Don't expect the Penguins to buy out defenseman Ryan Graves, or anyone else. They obviously aren't thrilled with his contract, and wouldn't mind getting rid of it, but they'd need to add a sweetener or two to get rid of it.
Fans on social media are certainly on board for a potential Graves trade as well, and with so many upcoming draft picks, perhaps this is the best course of action for Pittsburgh.
We will have to wait and see how the rest of the off-season plays out to see whether they'll be aggressive in trying to move Graves, and if they can make some great moves, their franchise could be set up for plenty of success in the future.
