Penguins insider gives an update on Evgeni Malkin's injury and return timeline
Tonight, Josh Yohe of The Athletic has provided an injury update on Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin.
Last night, the Pittsburgh Penguins unexpectedly ruled out Evgeni Malkin for the team's game against the Dallas Stars.
Heading into the game Malkin had missed practice the day before but head coach Dan Muse indicated he was expected to play which of course ultimately was not the case.
Malkin's absence without an update from the organization on his health beyond a day-to-day designation caused frustration and worry amongst the fan base.
Tonight, Josh Yohe of The Athletic has addressed where things stand with Malkin and when he might return.

During a recent mailbag style article, Yohe addressed several big topics surrounding the Penguins including Malkin's injury.
According to Yohe, Malkin's injury is not considered serious and he should be back this week.
I don't believe Evgeni Malkin is dealing with a serious injury. The Penguins implied Saturday that he would be OK to play Sunday. That obviously wasn't the case, but I suspect we'll see him back in the lineup at some point this week. - Josh Yohe
While this does provide some relief for Penguins fans it could still mean that Malkin misses the Penguins next game tomorrow night against the Anaheim Ducks.
Before the injury, Malkin was off to an incredible start with 29 points in 26 games his best point per game pace since the 2019-20 season.
Hopefully, Malkin will be able to return soon and get back to dominating the NHL as the Penguins look to shock the league and sneak into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
