Podcaster Joshua Marshall of the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast has decided to step away after reporting on a false trade and apologized to Oilers and Penguins fans.

The Oilers are competing but have thus far failed to establish a level of separation from the rest of the pack. Their level of play has consistently lacked any major bite.
Stuart Skinner has shouldered a bulk of the workload with 20 starts, going 10-8-3 with a 2.86 GAA and .889 SV%. While he has shown improvement with his game, he continues to have games where little goes right, where everything gets amplified.
Calvin Pickard has picked up where he left off in a secondary role with 10 starts, going 3-3-2 with a 4.04 GAA and .851 SV%.

What the social media post that went viral over the weekend was about

This imbalance has brought trade rumors to the fore. Over the weekend, a social media post put out by the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast brought up a potential trade between Edmonton and Pittsburgh for Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry. This trade would see Pittsburgh retain half of his salary.
This trade rumor has picked up traction lately because of how well Jarry would fit with a struggling Oilers team.
However, an apology has come from the founder of the podcast himself, Joshua Marshall, to both Oilers and Penguins fans alike, as well as for Tristan Jarry and his family.

Why the founder of the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast had to apologize

The founder acknowledged that this information was, in fact, untrue and announced he would be leaving his podcast for a period of time to seek help for his mental health.
"First off we apologize to the LetsGoPens & LetsGoOilers fans & members of both organizations for our report/tweet on Friday night. We are sorry for any inconveniences we caused on our end of things.

Most importantly we apologize Tristan Jarry & his family for any unnecessary & unneeded stress we caused.

Enjoy the games you play in & enjoy the games you watch.

Happy Holidays to you & your loved ones.

Take care everyone."
Five years with a $5.375 million annual salary is the contract that Tristan Jarry currently has with Pittsburgh. He has shown one of his best levels of performance with a 9-2-1 record, 2.54 GAA average, and .913 save percentage.
Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas recently commented that he was happy with how Jarry had played under pressure.
