NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed the Penguins have the pieces to acquire Canucks' Quinn Hughes, who shares the same agent as Sidney Crosby.

Saturday night brought the first reports that the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks have started discussing a trade involving superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes.
The move isn't unexpected. The Hughes brothers, Quinn, Jack, and Luke, have often talked about wanting to play together in the NHL, and New Jersey is the most logical landing spot. Jack is a center, while Luke plays defense.
While the Devils are the clear frontrunners to acquire the 2023-24 Norris Trophy winner, other teams could still try to shake up the market.

What Quinn Hughes and Sidney Crosby have in common

Elliotte Friedman mentioned the Pittsburgh Penguins have the pieces to make a deal for Hughes, though he isn't sure if Hughes would be interested. Notably, Hughes shares the same agent as Sidney Crosby.
Outside New Jersey and Pittsburgh, three teams are worth monitoring before the March 6 trade deadline.
Detroit has received the most attention. Hughes has strong ties to the city and state, having played college hockey at the University of Michigan and spent summers with his family in the area.

Why the rival Flyers have a good shot at landing Quinn Hughes

The Flyers are another possibility. Hughes has a good relationship with Philadelphia coach Rick Tocchet, who previously coached him in Vancouver, making a reunion feasible.
Chicago is a quieter option but could be a dark-horse contender. While not frequently mentioned, the Blackhawks could become a real factor if multiple teams enter a bidding war.
As the trade deadline approaches, the market for Hughes remains active, with multiple teams weighing how to land one of the NHL's top young defensemen.
