Sidney Crosby's future in Pittsburgh is once again becoming a major story, and now, a top insider has noted how Mike Sullivan's departure has changed things.
The two were clearly very close, with Sullivan leading this team to not one but two Stanley Cups, and after his departure, people have begun talking about the potential of No. 87 asking for a trade.
Now, Insider Josh Yohe has addressed that possibility, and while there's definitely a chance, it appears as though Yohe gets the sense that this won't change Crosby's plans for the final stages of his career.
«I don't see that happening. Is Crosby happy about the decision? I won't speak for him, but it's a legitimate topic I'll be writing about soon. It's not ideal for Crosby, who is close with Sullivan on a personal level, to say nothing of his admiration of Sullivan as a coach.
Crosby, of course, is famously set in his ways and very comfortable with Sullivan as his coach.»
That was in response to Yohe being asked a question about Crosby demanding a trade after Sullivan's departure, and for now, it appears as though nothing has immediately changed in the mind of the captain.
Now, he's off to play at the 2025 IIHF World Championship with Nathan MacKinnon and other top stars, and while he'll no doubt be recruited while he's there, for now, Crosby remains committed to his Penguins.
