The Utah Mammoth are parting ways with goaltender Connor Ingram, and it could present an opportunity for the Penguins to add some valuable depth.

The Utah Mammoth are moving on from goaltender Connor Ingram right before the start of training camp.
They announced that they intend to place him on waivers so they can give him a fresh start elsewhere, according to GM Bill Armstrong.
We'll at some point in time put him through waivers, and through that process, he will either get a chance to play for another NHL team, or he will go to an (American Hockey League) team. But at the end of the day, he will be playing, and that's what we're so excited for.

Ingram recently completed a stay in the NHLPA Player Assistance Program, and was cleared to officially return nearly a month ago on August 20.
Taken with the 88th pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Ingram has gone 39-44-15 with a 3.14 GAA with the Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, and Utah.
He also won the Bill Masterton Trophy in 2024.

Is this a chance for the Penguins?

The Penguins could be a team that Ingram could find a new home with. As they demonstrated last year, it's never a bad thing to have plenty of goaltending depth.
Tristan Jarry's struggles resulted in him being waived, and Alex Nedeljkovic didn't fare much better; he was traded over the summer to the San Jose Sharks.
The Penguins did acquire Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks, but if he struggles as well, the team would want someone with NHL experience between the pipes.
And despite initial thoughts, Marc-Andre Fleury is only returning to play a single preseason game and will be retiring afterward, so he's not an option.
