Penguins May Have Prime Opportunity to Trade Tristan Jarry After Recent Update

A recent update revealed that the Pittsburgh Penguins will have a prime opportunity to trade their goalie, Tristan Jarry, after a roller coaster of a season he had.
Stuart Skinner and
Calvin Pickard were both wildly inconsistent in the playoffs. Skinner had an .889 save percentage and allowed five or more goals in five games.
Pickard was not any better, having an .886 save percentage, with seven of his 10 games under .900. The Oilers need a change in the net, and Pittsburgh's Tristan Jarry could fill the bill.
The 30-year-old Penguins goalie had a tough go of it in the 2024-25 season, going 16-12-6 with an .893 save percentage.
The Penguins have a long list of goalies in their pipeline
With some younger goalies working their way up the pipeline, Pittsburgh may consider trading
Jarry on his three-year, $5.375 million AAV contract.
There remains hope. Jarry has a .909 career save percentage and is a two-time All-Star. A deeper supporting cast in front of him, like Edmonton's, could help his bounce-back.
His cap hit, not that it is ideal, is manageable with rising goalie salaries across the league. Jarry also has experience in Edmonton, playing for the WHL's Oil Kings from 2011-15, including winning the Memorial Cup in 2014.
For the Oilers, whose window is currently open to win a championship, betting on a potential Jarry rebound, especially if Pittsburgh keeps salary or puts an incentive into a trade, might be a low-risk wager to make with positive value.
