The Penguins are dwindling their roster down ahead of Tuesday's Opener, and now, they've placed several players on waivers and others assigned to the AHL.

The Pittsburgh Penguins 2025/26 regular season is almost upon us, and with the roster still yet to be dwindled down, many were anticipating some big moves between now and Tuesday's opener against the New York Rangers.
On Saturday, the team delivered, revealing early in the day which players will be placed on waivers and which will be assigned to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins ahead of the new campaign.

Penguins to waive several players, send more to the AHL

According to an official release on the Penguins social media, the following players have been placed on waivers for the purpose of re-assignment to the AHL, should they clear waivers:
Sam Poulin
Boko Imama
Ryan Graves
Alexander Alexeyev
Rafael Harvey-Pinard
Perhaps the most surprising of all those is Ryan Graves, who appeared in 131 games for the team over the past two seasons, with the veteran taking immense criticism for his play in 2024/25, but on top of that, they've also released Robby Fabbri from his PTO.
What may frustrate Penguins fans more than anything is the waiver exempt group the team have sent down, as that list includes Tristan Broz, Avery Hayes and Owen Pickering, all of whom were expected to compete for a spot at training camp.
Ultimately though, it's a long season, and all those players will get their chances eventually, but for now, the next 24 hours will be very interesting in Pittsburgh as the team and their fans wait to see which players may potentially be claimed on waivers.
