Tonight, Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Will Horcoff has continued his incredible season adding another incredible accolade.
Throughout this season, Will Horcoff has been one of the best players in the entirety of the NCAA playing with the Michigan Wolverines.
Early in the season, Horcoff is on a
historic goal scoring pace and now USA Hockey has taken note of his effort and incredible play leading Horcoff to land an incredible opportunity.
Will Horcoff named to preliminary World Junior Championship roster
In an announcement today, USA Hockey named their initial roster for the upcoming World Junior Championships in Minnesota.
To the delight of many, Horcoff was one of the names to make the list for Team USA.
Even with this accomplishment there is more work to be done for Horcoff who will need to survive likely two rounds of cuts before being named to the final roster for Team USA.
If Horcoff is named to Team USA he will accomplish something his father Shawn Horcoff was never able to by going to a World Junior Championship.
In the meantime, Horcoff will continue playing with Michigan and looking to dominate and prove that he is a steal for the Penguins in the 2025 NHL Draft.
In addition, Will is hoping to surpass his father in NHL success by winning the Hobey Baker Award as the NCAA's best player which Shawn was nominated for but did not end up winning.
As the World Juniors approach it will be fun to see if Horcoff can stick on the Team USA roster and become a key piece of the lineup or if he will have to wait another season to represent his country.
