Penguins Star Forward Rickard Rakell Reveals Major Life Announcement

Rickard Rakell was one of the few bright spots on the Penguins this season as the veteran forward set career highs across the board.

The 31-year-old potted 35 goals and 70 points, beating his career highs in both categories.

His previous high in goals was 34 and his high in points was 70.

Earlier this month, Rakell made a major announcement regarding his personal life.

Now his life has been changed yet again as he and his wife just welcomed their newborn son Ziggy Steel Rakell into the world.

Hopefully Rakell will be able to head into next season with his new found dad powers to put up another career season as he continues to age well.

That being said, there is a very real chance Rakell won't be with the Penguins by next October.

While Kyle Dubas remains adamant that he intends to get his team back into the playoffs as soon as possible, the reality is that they are much more likely to be draft lottery favorites than Stanley Cup favorites next year.

As such, a proper rebuild could be in order in Pittsburgh, but even if Dubas continues to try and work around the edges, most would expect at least one major move to happen this summer.

Perhaps Rakell could be moved in a deal that would bring help to the team's blueline, which was one of the worst in the entire league this season.

That being said, if Dubas truly is committed to attempting to get back into the playoffs next season, Rakell is unlikely to go anywhere.
