Pittsburgh Penguins' Odds to Win the Top Pick at the Draft Lottery Emerges
The Pittsburgh Penguins odds of winning the draft lottery have emerged as the league prepares for the drawing.
With the 2025 playoffs well under way half the teams in the league are enjoying the most exciting part of the year.
For the rest of the league it is time to start looking forward to the offseason and free agency.
Before that though we have the draft lottery and then, naturally, the draft.
The NHL announced on Tuesday that the draft lottery will be held on Monday May 5th, although a start time has not yet been revealed.
To be specific, Kyle Dubas's club owns the 9th overall pick, giving them a 5% chance of drafting 1st overall this June.
Of course, if a team below them in the order wins the lottery, they could slip in the draft, potentially drafting as low as 11th if the team gets extremely unlucky.
The top teams to look for in the draft lottery are largely unchanged from last season as the San Jose Sharks once again finished 32nd overall, giving them a 25% chance at the 1st overall pick, which would give them two in a row.
Likewise, the Chicago Blackhawks once again finished in 31st place, giving them a 15.5% chance of getting the top pick.
After that, the Predators, Flyers, Bruins, Kraken, Sabres, and Ducks round out the top-nine ahead of Pittsburgh.
The Penguins could certainly use a first overall kind of talent in their prospect pool, but with this year's draft class being considered relatively weak by many scouts, the 2026 draft could be even more critical for the club.
