In 41 games with Kamloops this past season, Brunicke tallied a solid 30 points on the blue line before getting 10 games with the AHL's Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Penguins, with that experience making many confident he could see his NHL debut in the near future.
Brunicke is one of 12 defenseman invited to the event, and given his experience and his production at 19-years of age, he makes perfect sense as a veteran piece for Team Canada as they look to avenge a very average result at last years tournament.
Whether or not he makes the team, Brunicke has clearly shown he has the talent to be a very intriguing piece for the Penguins moving forward, and if he adapts at the AHL level in 2025/26, it's safe to say that Brunicke could be a full-time NHLer sooner than many expect.
