Penguins Top Prospect Loaned to Finnish Team After Injury-Plagued Season
Emil Jarventie was a seventh-round pick of the Penguins in 2023, and now the 20-year old winger has been loaned to a second-tier Finnish team for 2025/26.
Despite being a seventh-round pick of the Penguins in the 2023 NHL Draft, Emil Jarventie has had few chances to prove himself, as the 20-year old winger has been devastated by constant injuries.
In the past two seasons, he has played just two games in the top tier Finnish league due to injury, with just three a season ago, and now Tappara Tampere have made an official move with him.
Why the Penguins Are Taking a Patient Approach with Jarventie's Development
At 20-years of age however, there's still plenty of optimism for the young winger, as despite being just 5-foot-10, he displays skills that could certainly translate to the NHL level.
He's had some taste of Penguins training camp, and now that he's seemingly healthy, the hope is that he can get his career back on track in 2025/26 as he continues to show flashes of a potential NHLer.
From Tappara to Pyry: What This Move Means for His NHL Future
Now, he'll have to do that in the second-tier in Finland, as the Finnish winger has now been loaned from Tappara to Pyry, meaning he will play at a lower level in 2025/26, which may be the best thing for his development.
Ultimately, there's still hope for Javentie despite the injuries that he's been forced to battle through, and against lesser competition, he can hopefully build up his momentum and confidence again, and at 20-years of age, the Penguins clearly aren't giving up on him just yet.
