Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is expected to be one of the lone bright spots for the team this year, and he'll also try and help Canada win gold again at the Olympics.

There likely won't be too much to draw fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins to games this year, as the team isn't expected to come anywhere close to competing for a spot in the postseason.
Other than the possibility that it could be the last year in the NHL for Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins aren't expected to provide much excitement in terms of actually competing.
But one player who is expected to do just that, as he's done throughout his entire NHL career, is captain Sidney Crosby.

Doug Armstrong's Praise Echoes What Penguins Fans Already Know

Not only is Crosby going to once again captain the Penguins this year, but he'll also likely be named captain of Canada for the 2026 Winter Olympics, a role he's had multiple times.
Canada GM Doug Armstrong's praise of Crosby was nothing new:
I've got unbelievable admiration for how (Crosby) performs, how he plays. The level he's playing at in the NHL right now, you don't do that unless you're a determined, consistent athlete. The sacrifices he makes personally, I think, go unnoticed for what he can do from 7 to 9:30 most nights.

He's a freak of nature.

The Olympics will begin in February.

How Crosby's Example Fuels Both Team Canada and Pittsburgh

Crosby scored perhaps the biggest goal in Canada's history for international competition, known as the "Golden Goal" in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, forever cementing his status as a Canadian icon.
His relentless determination not only for the Penguins but for his country sets an example for those around him, and there have been few players in recent NHL memory who have provided a better example than Crosby.
