While there are reports out there that the Penguins could target Bowen Byram or Marco Rossi, a top insider has now labelled them as the NHL's only true seller.
After missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third straight season, things aren't going perfectly in Pittsburgh, and even with star captain
Sidney Crosby still playing at a high level, the team are potentially looking towards a retool or even a rebuild this off-season.
There have been some suggestions out there that the team could target young, NHL ready players like Bowen Byram and Marco Rossi in the summer, but at this point in time, they likely won't be worth the assets that it will cost to acquire them.
Now, TSN's Pierre LeBrun has all but confirmed that a pursuit of those players won't be happening, as he has singled the Penguins out as the NHL's only true seller this upcoming off-season.
According to LeBrun, even the worst teams in the league from 2024/25 like San Jose and Chicago will be trying to get better this off-season, but for the Penguins, their likely best course of action will be to move some pieces to continue landing assets for the future.
At this point in time, it's unclear whether or not the team will end up selling all of those players, but after we saw them move many pieces at the deadline, it's certainly going to be no surprise if they make four or five big moves to trade veteran pieces this summer.
