Can you believe it? The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed legendary goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) before training camp.

Even though former Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury announced that last season would be his last in the NHL, he's apparently changed his mind.
The Penguins have announced that Fleury has been signed to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) before training camp begins next week.
Fleury is expected to only play one game, on the 27th of September, but who knows -- he still has the passion for the game.
Fleury has played the last several years with the Minnesota Wild, and also played for Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championship in what was thought to be his last appearance on the ice in professional competition.
Fleury, who was taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, was the starter for the Penguins when they captured the 2009 Stanley Cup.

Penguins welcome back Marc-Andre Fleury

Penguins GM Kyle Dubas, who allegedly tried to acquire Fleury in a trade during his time in the same role with the Toronto Maple Leafs, has officially welcomed him back to the Penguins organization.
The entire Penguins organization is honored to welcome Marc-Andre Fleury back to the ice in Pittsburgh. This past year everyone witnessed how beloved and respected Marc is in the game of hockey, but the adoration goes beyond his accolades and career. Marc means so much to our team, our fans and the City of Pittsburgh because of the person he is and the example he set. The Penguins feel he and his family are most-deserving of this opportunity to celebrate this full-circle moment back where it all started in front of the black and gold faithful.

Fleury played the first several years of his NHL career with the Penguins, winning 2 more Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017, but in a backup role to Matt Murray.
He then played for the Vegas Golden Knights, who took him with the 1st pick in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft. After multiple years with Vegas, he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2021. That season's Trade Deadline, he was sent to the Wild, where he played until 2025.
