The 2025 NHL Draft has been full of movement thus far, and in that time, the Pittsburgh Penguins have made some surprise trades and picked up some talented young prospects.
That continued well into round three of the draft, as the team followed up a selection at No. 84 with yet another trade, this time with the powerhouse Vegas Golden Knights over pick No. 85.
The Golden Knights clearly wanted to move up in the draft, and in doing so they landed the No. 85 pick, giving Pittsburgh No. 91 and 154 overall, with the Penguins clearly not needing to use the 85th pick in this scenario.
Already, the Penguins have added six prospects to a group that's in need of some talent in their prospect pool, and with the team getting two selections in return, it gives them a chance to take two more swings.
With the No. 91 overall pick, the team would go on to pick defenseman
Brady Peddle, and if he was one of the top names on their board, moving back six picks to land him is a fantastic role for the Penguins.
Ultimately, it's going to take a while to know whether most of these picks will pan out at the NHL level for Pittsburgh, but thus far in the draft they've been making some intriguing moves, and with the goal of adding talent to their prospect pool, they've clearly done that.
