Georges Laraque Breaks Silence on the Crosby Trade Rumours He Started Yesterday

While the attention was supposed to be on the first-round of the 2025 NHL Draft on Friday, just moments before it began, we heard a wild rumour from former NHLer Georges Laraque.

Unsurprisingly, Laraque was called out on social media after many debunked the rumours, including Pat Brisson, Crosby's agent, who referred to these as 'baseless rumours', shutting down any talk of a Crosby trade.

On Saturday, Laraque was back at it again, backing up his baseless report with another, claiming that after missing the post-season three years in a row, Crosby will likely push for a trade at the deadline if the team isn't flying early in the year.

Once again, this doesn't appear to be a report based in any type of fact, but rather it's simple speculation from Laraque, and after being called out on X yesterday, he has stuck by his original report.

At this point in time, if Crosby did want to be traded, we likely would have heard much more about it, because it's been well known that Pittsburgh are in a re-tooling/rebuilding phase right now, but currently, he's remained loyal and stated he wants to remain in Pittsburgh.

Ultimately, the rumours about Crosby are likely never going to end, and there's a chance that 87 does eventually want to leave and play for another team, but as of right now, this report has been debunked, and as much as Laraque is pushing for it, the captain is likely remaining a Penguin for now.
