Pittsburgh Penguins Make Surprise Trade On Day Two of The 2025 NHL Draft
Compared to round one, the second round of the 2025 NHL Draft has been lightning, and after a flurry of trades early in the second round, the Pittsburgh Penguins have made their third trade of the weekend.
With that pick, Pittsburgh drafted defenseman
Peyton Kettles of the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL, with the young star standing at 6-foot-6 as a great pickup for a Penguins blue line that clearly needs some additions.
In moving Timmins, the Penguins used a solid asset that likely wasn't part of the long-term plan to land a very talented young player, with both the Sabres and Penguins likely happy about this deal.
Now, in just two days, the Penguins have added four incredibly talented players in the draft, and while they may not all plan out, Kyle Dubas has a plan, and he's clearly executing it thus far.
Ultimately, only time will tell whether or not Kettles works out for Pittsburgh, but with the team not giving up any significant assets to make it happen, this is a win for the Penguins as they look to continue adding young players to a prospect pool that needed an injection of talent, so we'll see how this one plays out.
