Tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins were able to pull off an impressive feat without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin for the first time in over 20 years.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the thick of an intense Stanley Cup Playoff battle and tonight faced a tough test against the Boston Bruins.
Heading into the game, the Penguins were without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and also lost Justin Brazeau just before puck drop.
Without these three high powered offensive threats, the Penguins were heavy underdogs and came out of the gates struggling going down 3-0'to the Bruins.
At this point, no one expected the Penguins to come back especially down so many talented forwards.
Against all odds, they were able to chip away one goal at a time and tie things up at 4 thanks to a goal from veteran Anthony Mantha.
That sent the game into overtime where the Penguins were able make history with a big goal from Tommy Novak.

Penguins complete historic comeback against the Bruins

The Penguins carried the momentum into overtime where they were able to secure a massive win.
The win became the first 3 goal comeback for the Penguins without Malkin or Crosby since 2001.
the last time the Penguins recorded a three-goal comeback without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in their lineup (regular season or playoffs) was Feb. 10, 2001.
With the win, the Penguins continue to cement their spot as a Metropolitan Division playoff qualifier.
Additionally, the Penguins will be able to welcome back Malkin and likely Crosby as well in just a few more games.
If Dan Muse can keep the Penguins afloat until Malkin and Crosby are back they could set themselves up incredibly well to secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
