The Penguins have two key draft picks in the 2025 NHL Draft, but according to reports, they're leaning towards making a big trade instead of drafting with both, leading to plenty of speculation around the league as the draft inches closer and closer.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have the opportunity to add some major talent to their roster in the 2025 NHL Draft, as they're currently set to draft with the No. 11 and 12 overall picks.
That could change however, as recent reports have revealed that the team could instead look to use one, or both picks to land a talented, NHL ready player or even to move up in the draft.
Early on Friday, the Canadiens used picks No. 16 and 17 along with a solid roster player to acquire
Noah Dobson, and with two better picks in Pittsburgh, there's a chance that they look to do something similar.
According to reports, the team have had discussions involving
Bryan Rust and moving up to the No. 9 slot with Buffalo, and if that were to happen, it would give them even more ammunition to make a big time deal.
It's unclear exactly who or what pick the Penguins would be targeting if they made picks No. 11 and/or 12 available, but with some intriguing talents available via trade in the league, this opens up huge possibilities for GM Kyle Dubas.
Ultimately, the NHL Draft is always a night of change, with potential blockbusters set to go down on draft night, and with the Penguins now holding two very valuable picks and some veterans that need to be moved, don't be shocked to see them in on the action.
