Pittsburgh Penguins Lineups Revealed Amid Major Injury Crisis

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that five players will be done for the remainder of the regular season, making their lineup down the stretch very different to what we've seen in recent times.

Now, ahead of their matchup with the New Jersey Devils, they've officially revealed their lines, and it's definitely not what Penguins fans have come to expect in recent times.

The most intriguing change is the replacement for Rutger McGroarty on the Penguins top line, as he has been replaced with fellow rookie Ville Koivunen, who has shown plenty of promise down the stretch since arriving in the NHL, and now he'll get his chance alongside Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust.

On top of that, Danton Heinen will take his spot on the team's second line beside superstars Evgeni Malkin and Rickard Rakell, who are begging the team to get some talent alongside them as they've shown great chemistry thus far in 2024/25.

Perhaps the most intriguing change has been the teams fourth line of Koppanen--Ponomarev--Bemstrom, a trio of players that weren't expected to play many minutes at the NHL level this season, but with the teams hopes gone, there's no reason to not give them a chance.

All hope is not lost however, as Penguins fans are choosing to be optimistic with the arrival of many top prospects, and with others thriving at the AHL or the junior/NCAA level, it's safe to say that late in the season, the experience these young players are getting could be invaluable in the years to come.
